From Amazon Products to New Ventures: One Entrepreneur’s AI Story
I’m an entrepreneur. I’m deeply involved in three businesses that use AI-powered tools in very different ways. My story is a case study in how small businesses and startups are leveraging AI technologies not only to grow and improve existing businesses, but also to launch innovative, high-potential new ventures.
I’ll start with the simplest AI use-case. Fifteen years ago, my spouse, Jill Taft, started a business selling non-toxic soaps and shampoos for people and pets, including a line of lice treatments for kids. The business, Logic Products, has grown and thrived largely because of its presence on Amazon, which allows us to market, sell, and efficiently ship our products — which people often need right away — to customers across the country.
Today, we use ChatGPT to do much of our market research and copywriting. It took a bit of time to figure out how to craft effective prompts, and we still have to carefully review the AI-generated text. But for the most part, we’re able to produce well-crafted, research-informed product descriptions in just a few minutes — saving us hours and hours of work.
It’s saved us so much time, in fact, that Jill can now run Logic Products on her own, and I’ve been able to launch two new AI-powered businesses. The first, which I started in 2025, is called Kwieri.ai. Meant for colleges and universities, it’s a learning-exchange platform that allows students to use generative AI while working with human experts.
I started Kwieri because I’d realized that students, including my own son, were using AI to do their schoolwork for them. They could easily complete their assignments and get good grades without actually learning anything. Kwieri helps solve that problem by putting humans back in the loop. It lets students use AI to find information and generate ideas, then discuss and refine those ideas in real time with peers and teachers. By pairing AI with human knowledge and expertise, students can use Kwieri to enhance their learning and analytic skills, rather than replace them.
My second business, Modern Uprising Studios (MUS), is a division of a larger sensory computing company called Toro Science. MUS is a next-generation event-based entertainment company that’s redefining how stories are created, experienced, and monetized. Operating at the convergence of cinematic storytelling, AI, and spatial computing, MUS is a pioneer in immersive, participatory entertainment. AI is quickly moving entertainment from audial and visual to experiential, so there’s a huge market for the kind of work we’re doing.
AI is here. It’s the future, and it’s also the present. I understand that it can seem threatening. But pretending that it’s not here, or trying to slow it down, is a fool’s game. People, markets, and economies adjust to new technologies, and new industries and jobs emerge.
