3C Applauds Court’s Decision Rejecting FTC’s Antitrust Claims Against Meta
WASHINGTON (Nov. 19, 2025) — 3C Executive Director Rob Retzlaff released the following statement in response to U.S. District Judge James Boasberg’s Nov. 18 rejection of the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC’s) claims that Meta holds an illegal social media monopoly.
“3C applauds Judge Boasberg’s ruling as a victory for the millions of small businesses that leverage Meta’s integrated tools and platforms to grow and connect with customers.
“Judge Boasberg correctly recognized that the FTC was overreaching and too narrowly defining the social media market. Social media is a fiercely competitive and rapidly evolving space that continues to spur innovative new tools that empower small businesses.
“This ruling should prompt the FTC to take a fresh look at cases that rest on similar assumptions and market definitions, including the pending case against Amazon.
“The ruling also serves as a reminder that policy and enforcement must reflect market realities and align with how small businesses use integrated digital tools and platforms to connect with customers, grow, and succeed.”
