3C Endorses SECURE Data Act

WASHINGTON (June 3, 2026) — Connected Commerce Council (3C) Executive Director Rob Retzlaff today issued the following statement endorsing the SECURE Data Act. Retzlaff’s statement came ahead of today’s U.S. House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade hearing on the legislation.

“Small businesses have long called for a national data privacy standard to replace today’s increasingly unmanageable patchwork of state laws. The SECURE Data Act offers clear, consistent rules that protect consumers while acknowledging the critical role data plays in the small-business ecosystem.

“Small businesses leverage affordable, effective data-powered digital tools to connect with customers, grow, and succeed. The SECURE Data Act would supersede state privacy legislation, protecting small businesses from conflicting state laws that badly degrade those tools and providing a single set of clear, balanced guidelines.

“Congress should move swiftly to advance the SECURE Data Act and deliver the national data privacy standard U.S. small businesses and consumers deserve.”
