3C Reacts to the DOJ’s Overreaching Proposed Remedies in Google Search Case
WASHINGTON (Nov. 19, 2024): Connected Commerce Council (3C) Executive Director Rob Retzlaff today issued the following statement in response to the Department of Justice (DOJ) filing its proposal for remedies in the United States v. Google LLC case. The proposal includes forcing Google to sell its popular Chrome browser, forcing Google to share data with rivals, which would lead to privacy protection concerns for SMBs and consumers, and separate its Android operating system from its Search and Play services.
“The DOJ’s proposed remedies would severely harm America’s small business owners, who leverage Google’s secure, cost-effective integrated tools to run and grow their businesses.
“Radically altering the way these tools operate and integrate will create significant disruptions for small businesses — and claiming otherwise is disingenuous.
“Rather than ‘remedying’ anything, these extreme measures would be a massive blunder that punishes the hard-working entrepreneurs who keep America’s economy and communities thriving.”
