3C Responds to Executive Order on National AI Policy
WASHINGTON (Dec. 15, 2025) — 3C Executive Director Rob Retzlaff today released the following statement in response to a new executive order calling for a national AI regulatory framework.
“Small businesses need the clarity and certainty that a national AI regulatory framework will provide so they can confidently use AI to grow, compete, and succeed in today’s digital economy.
“A growing patchwork of state AI laws threatens to undermine small businesses’ adoption of AI-powered tools that help them save time and money, manage operations, and better serve customers.
“When each state has different AI rules and enforcement standards, it creates costly and confusing compliance requirements — demanding resources and expertise small businesses typically lack.
“A federal AI framework will eliminate the cost and confusion of complying with multiple, conflicting state laws — allowing small businesses to responsibly leverage the AI-powered tools they need to grow, compete with larger players, and succeed in today’s digital economy.”
“While the intention of this executive order is positive, our members will continue to push for national AI legislation that Congress must pass to ensure long term clarity and certainty for small businesses for years to come.”
