3C Statement Regarding Unredacted FTC/Amazon Lawsuit
Washington, DC (November 2, 2023): The Connected Commerce Council (3C) released the following statement from Executive Director Rob Retzlaff following the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) release of the unredacted lawsuit against Amazon.
“The FTC continues to distort facts for political reasons to fit their fringe theories and prove they have no clue how Amazon or e-commerce works. No matter where they sell their products, sellers must attract customers, build their brand, and convert sales. In-store advertising has been around since the dawn of retail. Physical stores charge thousands to put products on eye-level shelves or endcap displays, and online sellers often pay for advertising across various platforms. Sellers choose to advertise on Amazon because it drives sales and measurable, high-performing ROI.
“Amazon helps thousands of small sellers reach customers nationwide, grow their business, and succeed, and changing how Amazon operates will have dire consequences for those businesses. The FTC should stop playing roulette with sellers’ livelihoods, and the judge assigned this case should dismiss it swiftly.”
