Coffee for the Community
Juanny Romero started Sunrise Coffee in 2008 to create a coffee shop focused on making friends, drinking good coffee, and eating foods made from scratch. Founded in Las Vegas at the start of the Great Recession, Sunrise Coffee is the city’s longest-running independent coffee shop and has since expanded to four locations.
Juanny has used several small business tools to grow her business. Google Business Profile makes it easier for customers to read reviews, menus and find hours of operation. Targeted Google and Facebook Ads and free Google Analytics help find customers. And Google Workspace, which comes with docs, sheets, and Gmail, makes organizing and communicating with her team much better.
When the pandemic struck, these tools were more important than ever before. Juanny recalls that digital tools and social media were vital to Sunrise Coffee’s ability to operate during the unprecedented times of the pandemic.
Not only were digital tools critical to keeping Sunrise Coffee afloat, but they also led to a rapid increase in business. As a result, Juanny could use her business to give back to her community in a time of need by allowing customers to donate coffee to first responders and health care workers.
Juanny is concerned that If Congress makes it harder for small businesses to access digital tools, Sunrise Coffee won’t be able to continue expanding and make it harder to find new customers in the future.
“I feel like I discovered a superpower when I found these digital tools,” Juanny says. “And I’m excited to continue using them to enhance my company and community.”
