Digital Tools Help Bring All-Natural Meat Snacks To The Masses
Nashville, TN
Growing up with his mom’s Cuban-influenced cooking, Jason Burke developed a taste for flavorful food. When the bland, processed snacks in the vending machine at work left him wanting something better, he started making jerky at home and bringing it to the office. It wasn’t long before his coworkers wanted a taste. Jason soon had dozens of orders. In 2012, he launched his business, The New Primal, to share his meat snacks nationwide.
When the world shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jason turned to online retailers to help keep his business thriving. He quickly realized Amazon’s value to small businesses — and New Primal’s bottom line. The platform’s digital marketing tools help him reach potential customers, saving him time and money on advertising while increasing his sales. Jason also reduces operational costs and challenges by using Amazon’s fulfillment services to warehouse, pack, and efficiently ship his snacks to customers around the country.
“Amazon is great at supporting my small business,” Jason said. “But a lot of people, including lawmakers, just don’t know how Amazon’s platform actually works.”
Jason added that if the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) forces Amazon to change how it serves sellers like him, consumers and sellers could both face higher prices.
“When people attack Amazon, they’re really going after businesses like mine,” he said.
