North Carolina-based Leather Goods Business Reaches Customers With Online Tools

Mooresville, NC

When Pavlo Prannyk immigrated to the U.S. in 2014, he brought his family — and his artisan leather goods business, olpr. Leather Goods Co. — with him. Pavlo puts his passion for leatherwork into each of the aprons, wallets and other goods he crafts, winning over customers with his attention to detail. From designing and creating new products to managing sales, marketing and customer service, Pavlo and his family do it all.

More than 20,000 customers a year now visit olpr. Leather Goods through its website and Etsy and Amazon stores. Amazon’s logistics network makes it easy for Pavlo to ship his products to customers worldwide, including in his native Ukraine. He also uses Google’s advertising and analytics tools to attract potential customers and help him understand which ads work best, increasing sales and boosting the business’s bottom line.

Pavlo uses effective digital tools to operate a thriving company. He’s concerned about proposed laws such as the American Privacy Rights Act (APRA) and American Innovation and Choice Online Act (AICOA), which would regulate the data that powers his ads and stop Amazon and Google from offering their integrated services. APRA and AICOA would change how digital advertising and online marketplaces work, harming Pavlo’s small business. He urges lawmakers to try to better understand the value of digital tools for small businesses like his.

“It took more than making beautiful products to build our business,” Pavlo said. “Without digital advertising and marketing tools, we would not be where we are today.”
