Statement in Response to President Trump’s Remarks About the Post Office

WASHINGTON, DC. (April 24, 2020) – The following statement was issued today by Connected Commerce Council (3C) President Jake Ward responding to remarks President Trump made in the Oval Office about the U.S. Postal Service, package delivery rates and Amazon.

“Criticism of the United States Postal Service and private companies that are maintaining the country’s supply chain and delivering billions of products to millions of businesses and consumers during the Covid-19 quarantine are misguided, counter-productive, and potentially dangerous.

The uncertainty of a global pandemic and national economic crisis has forced tens of millions of American small businesses and hundreds of millions of Americans to increasingly use delivery services for the supplies and goods they need.

With storefronts closed across the country, e-commerce companies like Amazon and the U.S. Postal Service have provided millions of small businesses with the ability to sell products online and maintain enough revenue to stay afloat. Now is not the time to casually attack the hard-working men and women keeping our businesses and homes stocked during this crisis.”
