Steubenville Small Business Hosts Rep. Bill Johnson

Steubenville, OH (August 29, 2023): Today, Steubenville-based small business Scaffidi Restaurant Group, a family-owned, multi-brand food service corporation, hosted Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH-06) at its restaurant, Scaffidi’s.

Rep. Johnson toured Scaffidi’s and learned about the digital tools CEO Frankie DiCarlantonio uses to support his restaurant and attract new customers. DiCarlantonio also shared concerns with Rep. Johnson regarding several policy issues, including the need for a national privacy law and legislation like the American Innovation and Choice Online Act and the AMERICA Act.

“I appreciate Rep. Johnson visiting Scaffidi’s to learn about our experience running a restaurant and our recent entrance into the e-commerce market,” DiCarlantonio said. “Digital tools help us attract customers to our restaurant and sell frozen, homemade pasta online nationwide. Small businesses like ours need a single, national privacy law because we can’t track and comply with 50 different state laws. Complying with different sales tax laws is already difficult and costly, and adding privacy law compliance could be crippling for us.”

DiCarlantonio uses inexpensive digital tools to help bring the taste of “grandma’s house on Sunday” to his customers. Google Business Profile and Google Ads help DiCarlantonio attract new customers and stand out against restaurant chains by placing Scaffidi’s at the top of Google search results. He also interacts with customers on social media and uses Facebook’s analytics to determine which photos, videos, and ads have the largest reach.

“Small business owners like Frankie and the Scaffidi family are inspirations for their local communities and the country’s economy as a whole,” Rep. Johnson said. “I’m fortunate to have learned about his family’s successes as a small business and how digital tools empower him to run and grow his business.”
