3C Endorses Sen. Young’s Small Business Technological Advancement Act
WASHINGTON (March 13, 2025) — The Connected Commerce Council (3C), a nonprofit organization that advocates on behalf of digitally empowered small businesses, today voiced its support for the Small Business Technological Advancement Act. The bipartisan legislation would clarify that small businesses can use the Small Business Administration’s (SBA’s) 7(a) loan program to purchase digital tools, including business software and cloud computing, that enhance their day-to-day operations. Senators Todd Young (R-IN), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Ted Budd (R-NC), and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) introduced the bill last month.
“Digital tools help small businesses reduce costs and increase efficiency in virtually every aspect of their operations — from inventory management to order-fulfillment, to accounting,” said Rob Retzlaff, 3C’s Executive Director. “3C is proud to support legislation that makes it easier for small businesses to get the tools they need to grow and thrive in today’s highly competitive digital economy. I urge lawmakers to work together to pass this important bill.”
Small businesses’ enthusiasm for digital tools makes access to the SBA 7(a) loan program more important than ever. A recent 3C study shows that 84 percent of small business leaders consider digital tools an important part of running their business, and 68 percent say digital tools will help them navigate inflation and economic uncertainty in 2025.
“Digital tools are the driving force behind our success,” said Brian Thomas, Director of Sales and Marketing at GenTent in Brentwood, NH. “I’m encouraged to see that Sen. Shaheen understands small businesses’ needs and is working to pass legislation that makes it easier, not harder, for us to grow, compete, and succeed.”
“Digital tools are a big part of how we succeed,” said Andy Hubbard, president and CEO of Cut 2 Size Metals in Evansville, Ind. “I appreciate Sen. Young’s efforts to support small businesses with legislation that helps us grow and compete instead of adding more obstacles.”
“Digital tools are the driving force behind our success,” said Clark Twiddy, president of Twiddy & Co. in Duck, N.C. “I’m encouraged to see that Sen. Budd understands small businesses’ needs and is working to pass legislation that makes it easier, not harder, for us to grow, compete, and succeed.”“Digital tools are the driving force behind our success,” said Jim Reding, CEO of Aroma Retail in Las Vegas. “I’m encouraged to see that Sen. Rosen understands small businesses’ needs and is working to pass legislation that makes it easier, not harder, for us to grow, compete, and succeed.”
