Digital Resources for Black Small Businesses

With more than 2 million Black-owned small businesses in the U.S., it is imperative that we not only celebrate the accomplishments of Black small business owners but look to the future to ensure these businesses can continue to thrive. 

At 3C, our mission is to empower small businesses’ access to the digital tools that help them succeed – and as the country continues to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for access to these tools is even more pronounced. In a December 2020 report, 58% of Black-owned businesses reported that their business is “at-risk” or “distressed” due to COVID-19, underscoring the need for increased support during a difficult time.

Digital platforms have announced several initiatives to support Black small businesses and celebrate Black excellence. From multi-million dollar commitments to diversity and inclusion to case studies of successful Black entrepreneurs, check out these resources to help Black small businesses shine:

  • As part of its Black History Month celebration, Facebook announced an additional $200 million investment to support black-owned businesses and organizations. 
  • Facebook Elevate, a platform dedicated to accelerating the growth of minority small businesses, is offering inspirational and educational programming with the theme of “Generation Black.” 
  • A new Lift Black Voices hub on the Facebook app highlights case studies of successful Black artists and businesses.
