3C Reacts to House Ways and Means Hearing on “Maintaining American Innovation and Technology Leadership”
WASHINGTON (Jan. 13, 2026) — 3C Executive Director Rob Retzlaff released the following statement in response to today’s House Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee hearing on “Maintaining American Innovation and Technology Leadership.”
“Small businesses drive our nation’s economy, and they deserve a regulatory environment that fosters innovation, rewards success, and helps them grow.
“Europe’s heavy-handed regulations, including the Digital Markets Act, target the integrated digital tools that help small businesses compete and succeed, driving up costs, limiting accessibility, and creating uncertainty for entrepreneurs.
“Enacting European-style tech regulations through proposals like the American Innovation and Choice Online Act would saddle small businesses with more expensive, less effective digital tools. In a time of economic uncertainty, lawmakers must work to break down barriers to success, not create new ones.”
